On the stunning Hawaiian island of Kauai, Emily Stone and
Rick Lopez are desperate to locate a young girl abducted by slave traders. Emily
and Rick are both experienced in law enforcement but are now on a personal mission
of their own. When they successfully rescue the missing girl they come into
contact with Sergeant Lani Candena of the local police and embark upon a
somewhat strained relationship with the local authorities. They decide to spend
some time in this tropical paradise to rest and relax unaware of the deadly trials
that are coming their way as they immerse themselves in the search for a serial
killer.
The characters of Emily and Rick are rich in detail and
compassion. They have a great love for each other and communicate on a level
all their own. They both are extremely strong in mind and body and determined
to make a difference and deliver justice.
Jordan and Lani are great characters that are also deeply
involved in this story. They are strong, loyal and extremely realistic. They
each wrestle with their own emotions and inner challenges while playing an
integral part in the story.
The colorful description of the luscious Hawaiian island will
paint a picture of the beautiful backdrop to this story while at the same time
illuminating the horrific crime scenes amidst the splendor of the island.
Dark Mind is written with a sharp attention to detail and a commanding
knowledge that Jennifer Chase lends to the readability and believability of
this book. The suspense is never ending and the unfolding mystery will keep you
totally engaged.
I recommend this book to all readers for its intensity and gripping
storyline, this is a book that will keep you guessing and on the edge of your
seat until the final page is read.
